Lake County Republican intern program leaps to a great start
6/6/2009
The informational meeting attended by many of the interns was hosted by Lake County GOP Chairman Dan Venturi Saturday morning. In attendance was Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran and County Board Chairman and possible State Senate candidate Suzi Schmidt.
The intern program has already enlisted over 30 students who will spend the summer identifying and recruiting voters. Lake County Republican Chairman Dan Venturi said “the program is part of the plan to run the Lake County Republican Party as a successful political campaign.”
The intern program is coordinated by Tina Keats. Keats brings the experience of many successful campaigns, including the recent landslide victory of State Senator Dan Duffy. Keats said she is “very excited about all the progress the interns have made in a very short period of time.”
Interns will be all around Lake County this summer visiting train stations, parades and community events, interviewing and registering voters. This is a great opportunity for the students to gain valuable political experience while having fun and building the Republican grass roots in Lake County.
